The union that represents sheriff’s deputies in Pierce County is sending a blunt message to its members: if you want more money, apply somewhere else.

The Pierce County Deputy Sheriff’s Guild says 14 months of negotiations with county leaders yielded a proposed pay raise of only 10% over the next three years.

In the update, union leaders included links to job applications for other police departments in the county, including Tacoma, Bonney Lake, Puyallup, Gig Harbor, and Lakewood.

“I’m looking out for their best interest and their best interest - if it’s pay, it’s not here,” Guild president Shaun Darby told KOMO News in an interview on Tuesday.
