Delivering her talk on disability and the rights of disabled people, Ms. Nidhi Goyal- Disability Rights and Gender Justice Activist and India's first female disabled stand-up comedian, states that people with disabilities are not considered normal individuals in society; either they are looked up to as super humans or looked down upon. She emphasizes that people with disability need to be heard and recognized as human beings, and that they don’t need a change but a wave of change. Ms. Nidhi Goyal is India's first female disabled stand-up comedian. But this is just another tool she uses to further her activism on disability rights and gender justice. Diagnosed at the age of 15 with a degenerative eye disorder, she has never let this become an obstacle on her road to success. She works at the national and international levels for rights of girls and women with disabilities. Through activism and humour, she challenges stereotypes, asks difficult questions, speaks out on things that society rather hush, and fearlessly leads to bring a change! This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
