In a widespread protest across Gilgit Baltistan, government school teachers in districts like Gilgit, Skardu, Ghanche, Astore, Kharmang, Hunza, Ghizer, and others have boycotted classes to demand their legal rights, promotions, and pay scale upgrades.

Teachers staged sit-ins outside education offices, held rallies, and raised slogans against discriminatory policies. Protesters claim that while teachers in Gilgit region are being promoted, those in Baltistan are being neglected, calling it an injustice.

They demand that:
Teachers with professional degrees be given Grade-16 scale
Senior teachers receive promotions based on seniority
Equal laws be applied throughout Gilgit Baltistan
The GB government has formed a four-member committee including the Secretary Education, Secretary Services, and others to review the demands and report accordingly.
If the demands are not met, teachers warn of an intensified protest movement.
