"Brandy" (Looking Glass) | Ben Gage

Описание к видео "Brandy" (Looking Glass) | Ben Gage

Another cover recorded in the Shenandoah cabin. This is a song that has always been a favorite of mine. I first remember hearing it while riding around in a semi with my grandpa. The original tune has these "doo" parts and I recall him humming along, barely audible over the screaming Mack truck engine.

Now it's a favorite of mine for other reasons. There is a line at the end where it talks about walking through a silent town after the bars close down. That's a walk that I make a lot in this line of work. As musicians we perform often up to or close to the final hours of a venue, so after we get packed up we often get the town after it's gone to sleep. It's especially obvious when you play in small town America. You step out the door as it's being locked, and the environment is hushed, and you walk around with what feels like a sheet of felt over you. It's peaceful and lonely at the same time. I think most industry folks can resonate with that verse.
