The Syro Malabar Church has raised alarm over the Chhattisgarh High Court’s ruling that upheld signboards banning pastors and converted Christians from entering certain villages. In a strongly worded Facebook post, the Church called the move “the most divisive boundary since Partition,” terming it institutionalised communalism. Emphasising that the fight to protect secularism must stay within the framework of the Constitution, the Church urged citizens to uphold equality and religious freedom while avoiding extremism of any kind.
