4 units records request: We've applied for service records specifically requesting additional information of the units Dennis served in from the National Archives using the following website: https://www.archives.gov/veterans

As we mentioned in the video (and listed on the national archives website) covid has slowed down the process and they're currently processing through a phased reopening. We have no idea how much this will delay the records request process.

Surviving Vietnam is an episodic series of stories told by Dennis Nickell - a Surviving Vietnam Veteran. The series starts before Vietnam, continues into basic training and eventually into the jungle and beyond. The series will culminate in the continued story and eventual reality of coping with trying to survive life after the war.

Purpose: Reduce the daily number of Active-duty & Veteran military member suicides and bring as much healing as possible to survivors.

While the actual number of daily suicides committed by Active-duty & Veteran military members is up for debate, one thing is certain; any number greater than zero is too many. The sad reality is that many of our bravest men and women in uniform are choosing what they think is their only option.

What happens to a combat Veteran when they come home? What is the reality of living with 100% rated PTSD? Why do these men and women have so much trouble reintegrating into daily life? For many, a lack of understanding and/or being connected to the resources available is a REAL problem.

The all too common VA experience of nothing but hellish red tape bureaucracy ending in pills and pain is enough to make many Veterans throw in the towel.

Dennis believes there IS a better way. Are you a combat Veteran (or know a combat Vet?) looking for hope? There ARE alternatives. There ARE good souls who have dedicated their lives to helping Veterans continue to thrive every day.
