ECP0170 Ear Candle Productions Presents Open Mic at the Hotel Utah, San Francisco, 9/9/2002. The Hotel Utah Saloon's Monday open mic night has been an institution for years and continues to this day. It's always been a great place to workshop new material, blow the cobwebs out of your stage fright, make friends, and find a new audience. Here, on September 9, 2002, very close to the first anniversary of 9/11, Ear Candle Productions' Davis Jones and J Neo Marvin captured an hour of the open mic, cinema verite style. Bob-O-Magic Williard was the MC and the sound guy.

As always, some of the artists are familiar regulars like Jesseppi Wildfeather, Lee Mallory, Keith Savage, Charles Pitts, and Bob-O-Magic himself. (Also you see J Neo Marvin, with some help from Davis Jones, reading a statement on 9/11 and covering the very appropriate Mekons song, Hello Cruel World.)
