As Birmingham, Alabama is set to host The World Games (one of the largest sporting events on the globe) it wrestles to reconcile its history of racial terror with the hopes for its future.

Once again, Birmingham finds itself on the world’s stage. The South Got Something to Say explores what progress can look like in a rising progressive city—and who that progress is for.

Using perspectives from youth, policy makers, and residents, this film explores the authentic (and sometimes complicated) relationships between its citizens and emerging leaders as they navigate a city propelling forward at the speed of light.

For Birmingham and the South, the future is here, and it doesn’t look like we thought it would.
