Over-stretched, burnt-out and leaving in droves. Child protection workers say high staff turnover rates are adding to the pressure of a system in crisis.
More than 10 per cent of caseworker positions across the New South Wales are currently unfilled.
And existing staff are only getting around to seeing a fraction of the children reported as being at risk of harm.
