This is the first of a three-part analytics course designed especially for those considering a career switch into the analytics space — or anyone who wants to strengthen their statistical foundation.

Here’s what you won’t find during the workshop:

Session 3 Focus:
Advanced Data Transformations: Merging, Appending, and Manipulating Data

This session explores more advanced data transformation techniques crucial for combining and manipulating datasets. You will learn the difference between merging datasets (combining different variables from the same people) and appending datasets (stacking rows with the same variables from different people). The module covers how to generate single summary variables from multiple existing ones (e.g., finding the highest or lowest value) and how to apply numeric transformations like logarithms or square roots to change variable distributions, along with understanding their purpose. You'll also learn efficient methods for applying recodes or transformations to many variables simultaneously and how to effectively work with text (string) data, including joining and splitting text.
