How To Get A Compost Pile To Heat Up

So it has been 3 days since I finished the Berkeley method of composting. We're going to open this pile up to see what it looks like and add more nitrogen to get the pile to heat back up. The reason I want the pile to heat back up is to break down some of the bigger materials that are still in the pile.
