What Is IP PBX & How Is It Different From Traditional PBX?

We know that a Private Branch Exchange (PBX) is an internal telephone network providing internal communication for a business.

The same is true for an IP PBX, only it has IP connectivity, which basically means that calls are established over the internet rather than a physical landline.

IP PBX systems have their benefits. For example, you’ll have the reliability of a cloud-hosted solution while being able to keep your existing phone hardware.

There are also downsides to an IP PBX system. For example, you’ll have access to fewer features than a VoIP phone system. If video conferencing, call encryption, mobile and desktop apps, and other features are important to your business, you may want to consider going with VoIP.
