🔥5 Simple Tests to Identify If You Are a Fast-Twitch or Slow-Twitch Athlete:



1️⃣ The Explosive Jump Test (Standing Broad Jump)



✅ How to Do It:

• Stand behind a marked line.

• Jump forward as far as possible with both feet together.

• Measure the distance you land.

• Repeat 3 times & take the best score.



🚀 Fast-Twitch Result: If your jump is longer than your height, you have high explosive power = fast-twitch dominance.

🐢 Slow-Twitch Result: If your jump is shorter than your height, you rely more on endurance = slow-twitch dominance.

2️⃣ Sprint vs. Jog Endurance Test (Speed Drop-Off Test)



✅ How to Do It:

• Sprint 30 meters at full speed.

• Walk back, rest for 30 seconds, and sprint again.

• Repeat 6 times and record each sprint time.



🚀 Fast-Twitch Result: If your first 3 sprints are fast, but you slow down after 4th or 5th sprint, you are fast-twitch dominant (explosive but fatigues fast).

🐢 Slow-Twitch Result: If you maintain similar speed for all 6 sprints, you have slow-twitch endurance dominance.

3️⃣ Maximum Effort Push-Ups in 15 Seconds



✅ How to Do It:

• Perform as many push-ups as possible in 15 seconds.

• Keep proper form.



🚀 Fast-Twitch Result: If you can do at least 15-20 push-ups in 15 seconds, your muscles are fast-twitch dominant (explosive strength).

🐢 Slow-Twitch Result: If you do less than 12 but can continue for 1-2 minutes, you have slow-twitch endurance.

4️⃣ Isometric Hold vs. Maximum Power Test



✅ How to Do It:

• Hold a wall sit or plank for as long as possible.

• After that, do a standing vertical jump (how high can you jump?)



🚀 Fast-Twitch Result: If your vertical jump is high, but your wall sit/plank time is low, you have explosive muscle power (fast-twitch dominance).

🐢 Slow-Twitch Result: If you can hold the plank for over 2 minutes, but your jump is low, you are slow-twitch dominant.

5️⃣ Reaction Speed & Power Drop Test



✅ How to Do It:

• Stand with your hands in front of you, someone drops a small object (coin, eraser, or ball) from chest height, and you try to catch it as fast as possible.

• Do this 10 times & record how often you react fast.



🚀 Fast-Twitch Result: If you catch 8-10 times immediately, you have fast reaction speed (fast-twitch dominance).

🐢 Slow-Twitch Result: If you react late or catch only 4-6 times, your reaction muscles rely on slow-twitch fibers.

🔥 Final Judgement – Are You Fast-Twitch or Slow-Twitch?

• If you perform better in explosive tests (jumping, sprinting, push-ups in short bursts, reaction speed) → You are fast-twitch dominant (sprinter, power athlete, or fast bowler).

• If you perform better in endurance tests (plank, sustained speed, jogging without drop-off) → You are slow-twitch dominant (long-distance runner, endurance athlete).
