The saint Bamakshyapa, the goddess son of Mother Tara, had a vision during his lifetime on the auspicious occasion of one Kaushiki Amavasya. Bamakshyapa (born 12 Falgun, 1244; died 2 Sravana, 1318) was a Hindu tantric and the glorious son of Bengal born in Birbhum district. He lived in Tarapeeth. He was a devotee of Devi Tara and used to call Devi Tara "Boro Ma". He used to do sadhana at the cremation ground near the temple. He was a contemporary of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansadeva. Many songs, folk songs have been composed about Saint Bamakshyapa. A Bengali teleserial has been made on his biography which shows the life of Bamakshyapa in detail.
