The International Crimes Division Court Judge, Elizabeth Nahamya has threatened to dismiss the terror case against 7 Somali nationals accused of aiding and abetting the Al-shabab to carry out a second bomb attack on Kampala, in 2014.

This came after prosecution lawyer Rachael Bikhole informed court that she is not ready to proceed with the pre-trial hearing, in which evidence is disclosed for court to confirm charges against the accused persons, until December 15th 2016.

The seven were arrested in September 2014 from a Hotel in Kisenyi in Kampala after a tip off by residents to police that the accused were allegedly coordinating activities in support of the Al-shabab.

According to their lawyers, led by Edwin Tabaro, the accused have unfairly spent 2 years on remand at Luzira prison without being tried or released on bail. Tabaro asked the court to dismiss the matter and set their clients free.

The accused also re-applied for bail which application is set to be heard this Thursday 29th, before another Judge, Ezekiel Muhanguzi.

The group led by Muhammad Abdul Khadir first applied to be released on bail in December 2014, but their attempt was rejected by Justice Moses Mukiibi on grounds that they had not proved any exceptional circumstances.
