Chapter 5: Of Fish and Men

It began with the forging of the Great Rings. Three were given to the Elves, immortal, wisest and fairest of all beings. Seven to the Dwarf-Lords, great miners and craftsmen of the mountain halls. And nine, nine rings were gifted to the race of Men, who above all else desire power

This lust for power has once again proven troublesome, as the untamed tribes of Dunland now sound the drums of war. Fools they must be, for what drove them to this madness? Did the horse-lords of Rohan prove too troublesome? or has a new, inbred and unlettered warlord risen to lead them, daring to challenge the descendants of Fëanor, valiant and proud?

Behold, a curious sigil, a white hand, hitherto unknown, doth mark their banners... a heraldry of ominous portent, indeed.

But lo, let their desire for dominion turn to their own undoing, for the fair lands of Eregion, united beneath our resplendent standard, do beckon us to unfurl our wings, to expand our dominion, and it seems, as if by fate's decree, the realms to the South have willingly offered themselves for our conquest.

Yet, tread we must with care, for still the haunts of orcs and goblins infest the mountainous crags, and the Enedwaithrim to the West remain an enigma, though let us hope that their pursuits be confined to the realm of fishes.
