In their Government class, students learned various aspects of the criminal justice system, with a focus on understanding how Court precedents influence the interpretation of the Constitution. They chose a specific topic of study related to either issues surrounding Mass Incarceration (the phenomenon where large segments of U.S. society - 2.4 million total - are currently behind bars) or Mental Health Institutionalization (in connection with their study of "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest" in Literature class). After writing individual reports on their topic, students were grouped together, and given the task of creating a film.

In Literature class, students learned various styles and models of journalism, and worked on storyboarding and script-writing to convey their message in an organized, informative, and creative video format. In art class, students created merchandise (T-shirts, buttons, stickers, etc.) to represent particular views on the issues. Their projects are meant to shine light on both legal and moral issues surrounding controversial topics facing American society today.
