The highest volcano in Bali, towering over this beautiful island from its 3142m of jungle, gravel, rocks and breathtaking views.

Generally speaking you have two options
1) Pasar Agung trail (shorter, easier, to the crater rim)
2) Besakih Temple trail (longer, harded, to the summit)

We took the Besakih trail as its the only one taking you up to the true summit (3142m) rather than the crater rim at 2866m.

Departure from the hotel was ~11pm, aiming to set off from Besakih Temple to begin the hike around midnight. 2000m of ascent, just over 7hr to summit, and over 6hr to descend.

It was an incredible hike. The journey, the experience, the summit, the views, the challenging descent. Very much recommended adventure, but do your homework properly to avoid getting caught off guard.
