This was a late June climbing trip to the 7,788 ft summit of Mt. Deception, the 2nd highest peak in the Olympic Mountains. We started and ended at the Upper Dungeness Trailhead and spent one night in Upper Royal Basin. The Olympics are a special place. Trips into the range will take the adventurer through several micro climates and ecosystems throughout the journey. From the dense rainforests below, through conifer studded sub-alpine meadows, to the lofty alpine zone above; Olympic National Park has it all.
