Making an axe handle for a forged hatchet head

Описание к видео Making an axe handle for a forged hatchet head

I bought this forged hatchet head on the fleamarket and made a handle for it out of a piece of wood (beech) I had laying around. I selected the best grain orientation in the wood and reduced it to a workable size with the tools available to me. I chose to make a longer, octagonal and straight handle with a gentle curve purely for aesthetic reasons.
In the future I would spend more time reducing the wood to perfectly square and straight stock to facilitate the work later on. Also I would spend more time perfecting the wedge fit.

Thanks for watching,

Marcel
