Beverley Harden, AHP Lead for Health Education England, speaking at the College of Podiatry Conference 2018 about the Podiatry workforce and the challenges & opportunities we all face as a profession.

‘In my clinical career I was brought up by a podiatrist called Mike Townson from Portsmouth who spent years painstakingly teaching me the art of what podiatry could offer, not just a person, but a population and the tax payer. There’s an absolute mission here for us, in all aspects of podiatry, for us to make sure the system fundamentally understands what you bring: doesn't matter where you work, doesn't matter what you do in podiatry, but the benefits that podiatry offers a population is absolutely second to none. Our challenge together is to make sure that everybody across the system who has any decision-making power understands that, works with it and ensures that we make sure podiatry is absolutely in the forefront of service commissioners minds and in the population that benefits from that service.’
