The documentary uses his published works, private correspondence, and papers to try to give the writer the attention he so richly deserves.

Featuring contributions from Ken Follett, Alexander Armstrong and Douglas Hurd.

The documentary first aired in 2007 tying in with a new BBC production of The Thirty-Nine Steps.
