Celiac disease is also known as #wheatallergy or #gluten intolerance and affects 2–3 children out of every 100. It is of two types: typical celiac disease and atypical celiac disease. Typical celiac disease affects children at an early age and shows gastric symptoms like frequent #diarrhea and #anemia. Atypical celiac disease shows neurological symptoms like seizures, headaches, or skin diseases.

Children with type 1 diabetes are frequently found to have celiac disease. Simple tests like tTG (tissue transglutaminase) with the CBC and other #bloodtests can help in identifying celiac disease. To label a child with celiac #disease correlate the #symptoms with a positive ttg and an endoscopic or duodenal biopsy. Wheat, rye, and barley should be removed from the #diet of a celiac-positive patient . Regular #counselling of the child and parents is required.
