The Empress of Ireland Tragedy in Artefacts

Описание к видео The Empress of Ireland Tragedy in Artefacts

In 1914 the Canadian Pacific Railway ocean liner, RMS Empress of Ireland, sank after a collision with the collier Storstad. In this short ship history documentary we examine three special artefacts and what they can tell us about this famous ship and its sinking. The sinking has often been likened to the loss of White Star Line's RMS Titanic, just two years earlier in 1912 on the North Atlantic ocean after it struck an iceberg; but in fact, more passengers were lost in the sinking of the Empress of Ireland than Titanic!
