This period of harsh weather has highlighted the importance of shelter on these sites!! As the shelterbelt plantings on these sites mature, I'll have more flexibility with mob grazing through some of the more exposed sites.

We're also composting organic waste from two local cafés on the farm, so a lot of coffee grinds, fruit and veg waste, egg shells and compostable packaging (over 30 kg a week). The plan is to feed the rough compost through the worm bin and use the exudate from this process to brew a compost tea. We'll be conducting trials later on in the year to see if we can improve pasture quality via inoculation of these beneficial microbes, so stay tuned for that! Bulk, rough compost will be used around the garden and in the tree nursery and veg beds.
