Robert Conrad and others Wild Wild West Stunts Season 4

Season 4 of Wild Wild West shows where things started going bad, stunt-wise. If you check the :27 mark, you will see the point at which a swinging chandelier stunt went wrong, seriously injuring Robert Conrad. Through the magic of Hollywood, it appears that he climbs to his feet groggily a moment later. In the real world, though, he was out of commission for several months. What was supposed to be a Season 3 episode instead became the END of Season 3; the rest of the episode was filmed later and inserted into Season 4.

At that point CBS executives put their collective foot down and insisted that Robert Conrad leave the more dangerous stunts to the professional stuntment. After that Conrad mainly did simple fights, with an occasional climb to mix things up a bit. It made no difference, however. Between Conrad's problems and Ross Martin's heart ailment (Martin had missed over a dozen episodes between the third and fourth season), the network decided to simply end the series at the end of the fourth season.
