Tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA) is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid found in cannabis and some legal hemp products, acting as a precursor to THC.

Effects: Unlike THC, THCA does not get you high, which is good for patients who want the therapeutic benefits of cannabis without the psychoactive effects. Just remember, if you vape or smoke THCA (i.e. apply heat), it will be converted into THC and that will get you high.

Benefits: THCA is primarily used for its potential to alleviate inflammation, pain, nausea, and other conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease and neurodegenerative disorders.

Safety: Side effects are minor and similar to those of cannabidiol (CBD), including drowsiness and reduced appetite.

Legality: According to the popular interpretation of the 2018 Farm Bill, THCA hemp flower is legal to buy online or in-store as long as the total THC is below 0.3% by dry weight and your state doesn’t have a "total THC" standard for finished products.

Drug interactions: THCA can interact with certain medications, so consult your doctor before use. It is considered a viable alternative to THC in states where THC is not legal and may be particularly beneficial for adults with chronic pain or inflammatory diseases.
