Toyota Urban SUV Concept is a Little Crossover and Cheapest Toyota EV

Toyota is set to expand its electric vehicle (EV) lineup with the new "Urban SUV," scheduled to debut next year. This vehicle was showcased at Toyota's Kenshiki forum in Brussels, highlighting its role as an entry-level option in the company's electric vehicle strategy. The Urban SUV will be part of Toyota's diverse range, which includes hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions of the C-HR model.

In terms of size, the Urban SUV is a bit smaller in length and width compared to the C-HR, but it's slightly taller. Toyota has designed this new vehicle to offer both front-wheel and all-wheel drive options. This means it will be available with either a single motor or a dual motor setup. While there will be two battery size options, specific details about them are yet to be disclosed by Toyota.

A significant aspect of the Urban SUV is that it's built on a new, dedicated electric vehicle platform, different from any of Toyota's current combustion engine models. This platform is tailored specifically for EVs, indicating Toyota's commitment to electric mobility. The Urban SUV's design aligns with the bZ series models, known for their robust styling. Although currently labeled a concept, the production model of the Urban SUV is expected to closely resemble the concept, with minor changes like replacing the concept's small camera mirrors with standard side mirrors.

Toyota's broader strategy involves introducing around 15 new zero-emission vehicles in Europe by 2026. This includes both passenger and commercial vehicles. The lineup will also feature the Sport Crossover, which was revealed earlier at Auto Shanghai, and is now confirmed for European markets. Additionally, the bZ Compact SUV, unveiled last year, will also be making its way to Europe. This diverse and expanding portfolio underscores Toyota's commitment to sustainable and electric mobility solutions.
