The United States Federal Aviation Administration’s rules for commercial use of drones officially took effect on Monday.

According to the FAA website, any drone weighs between 0.55 lbs to 55 lbs need to be registered online while a drone weighs over 55 lbs need to be registered in paper form.

The drones must fly under 400 feet during the day. They cannot travel more than 100 mph and the operator must keep the drone in visual line of sight.

Moreover, the drones must not fly over people and they must not be operated from a moving vehicle. They must also yield right of way to manned aircraft.

Commercial drone operator must be at least 16 years old, possess a remote pilot airman certificate and must pass TSA vetting.

According to ZDNet, NASA estimates about 40 percent of the small drones in operation will be commercial drones by 2019.
