Madeira 4k - Visiting the Abandoned Faial Fortlet + Amazing View - Fortim do Faial, Santana

I visited this little fort two years ago, it was in much better condition than it is now! Now it's abandoned, with broken windows, even the cannons are destroyed :( There really isn't much to see unfortunately. The view is still amazing though, that's the main focus of this video. Oh, and I spoke to some of the locals, they told me that the fort will be repaired soon. We'll see!

This Fort dating from the eighteenth century presents an interesting recreational and nineteenth century architecture, having been built to serve guard purposes against frequent invaders. Today is much sought after by the views it offers, being considered one of the most beautiful viewpoints of the North of Madeira.

You have a nice view on a clear day from this Fort, so that there is the possibility to see the neighboring island of Porto Santo like if it was floating in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. If you look around, you can enjoy the beauty of Faial, São Roque do Faial and Porto da Cruz, the towering mountains, the Penha d'Águia and Ponta de São Lourenço as well.
