The X-Trail Files # 36 'How to remove rear suspension struts'

Описание к видео The X-Trail Files # 36 'How to remove rear suspension struts'

Part 36 of The X-Trail Files.
In this video I show you how to remove your rear suspension struts from the T30 Xtrail. No special tools needed although I do use a Sealey pro workshop trolley jack rated at 3 tons because that's what I've got from when I was a mobile mechanic. If you're going to be working on your vehicles then I highly recommend buying a proper workshop jack. So much easier than trying to use a small consumer grade jack. I've shown the process in a specific order. I don't release the strut to body mounting nuts until after the main strut bolts are removed because it stops the entire strut and hub from sagging downwards and the strut from falling forward and striking the wheelarch lip when you try to undo the two very tight strut to hub clamp nuts. While on the subject, both my rear shocks were getting 'tired' and the nearside strut was leaking oil badly. So bought a new pair and went to fit them but discovered rust on the nearside rear inner arch. That will be a subject for a different video. Always use axle-stands and chock the wheels if working under a vehicle. Since I am working on the rear end, the front wheels are chocked and car is in gear.
Please note, there is no voice-over or talking. Too windy while recording. Music tracks supplied by You Tube.
