Oscar Peterson's C Jam Blues Vamp

Описание к видео Oscar Peterson's C Jam Blues Vamp

In this video I take apart the vamp that O.P. plays in the intro of C Jam Blues. It's a good exercise in rhythm and hand independence.

0:00 Intro
1:10 Left hand with metronome on beats 2 & 4
1:59 Simple one note improvisation
3:22 Blues scales for improvisation
4:11 Simple chords in the right hand
5:19 Build a solo using the triads
5:51 Non-chord tones with enclosures and approach notes

Some other things to practice that I didn't cover are playing with different tempos. Try it at 70 bpm or 110 bpm.

Try to add some subtle variations to the left hand bass line. Later in the solo Oscar Peterson does this. It adds a bit more energy to the solo and leads the group to come join in.
