Squiggy Was (sometimes) a Picky Eater - No No No Yes. Hyrax having dinner.

I am conflicted about this one. Squiggy was notorious for being distracted and not eating - yet she would be bonkers when she was hungry. Eventually she would have favorites, that were easy to get her to eat. She had a cilantro phase, an avacado phase, and of course she always had wild leaves available in the house. But sometimes, not often, she would do this. She just didn't want the banana, even though it was clearly one of her favorites.

I am conflicted because, maybe she just didn't want to digest a banana that day, but it's what I had. Maybe her tummy didn't like it. I would have obviously preferred to just leave food out and she eats it at her own pace. But because she couldn't go to sleep on an empty stomach, I sort of had to make sure she ate. The problem is, they really are community grazers, which means she isn't going to eat alone. (she rarely did).

I often would gather fresh branches of her favorite wild foods and leave them out when I went to work, and found none of them eaten. But if I hung out next to her when I got home she would immediately go for them. Like she had been waiting.

But sometimes I just need to sleep, and have to coerce her to eat a banana. It's actually uncomfortable for me to watch this, because I just wonder if I was doing it all wrong.
