This week on Gold Rush Media Corey Shuman presents the Emerson Horn Silver Mine located in Beaver County, Utah. This mine is a classic example of reclamation gone wrong. Very little of the historical merits of this claim have been preserved and instead backfilled over and torn down. Old tailings piles have been pushed around the site and the headframe chopped and thrown to the side. However, there is still a lot of economic potential in this old mine. The Utah Division of Oil, Gas and Mining (DOGM) has been "courteous" enough to contract out and build a concrete collar for the mine, as well as place a rebar gate over the shaft entrance. Something that would cost the small time miner a pretty penny has been supplied by the generous taxpayer. Mine Safety is paramount and the rebar has shown its effectiveness as seen by the hole cut in its middle. Just inside is an extensive timbered network with connecting drifts. The Ore veins are rich quartz deposits and are perfect for high grading. Keep a lookout as this mine will be up for sale in the coming week.
