LEGO Downtown Diner is the awesome new modular building for 2018. I'm unboxing, speed building and reviewing 10260 Downtown Diner in this LEGO modular building review video. This is my first LEGO modular and it's a great set! It's not cheap at $170 for a 2,480 piece build but does represent good value for money (in LEGO terms at least) and sees a welcome reintroduction to lots of lovely LEGO teal colored elements!

10260 Downtown Diner is a LEGO Creator Expert set aimed at builders aged 16+ and aimed clearly at adult fans of LEGO (AFOLs). The modular is built on a 32x32 sand baseplate and stands over 13" tall with four levels: the diner, a boxing gym, recording studio and finally a roof terrace, all of which come apart to reveal detailed LEGO interiors. Downtown Diner includes 6 minifigures: a chef, waitress, boxer, rock star, manager and a female bodybuilder who has a great secondary facial expression where she's sweating!

Based on a 1950s theme, Downtown Diner starts out at street level which the diner which has a great retro vibe. Floors are covered in black and white tiles, there's a counter with bar stools, a kitchen with grill cooking up LEGO bacon and pancakes and not to mention a coffee machine and soda fountain. A 1950s LEGO waitress minifigure serves the diners in the crisp red booths and sports a pair of red rollerskates. There's even a LEGO gumball machine and so much more detail than can be covered here.

On the next level of this LEGO 10260 modular building, we find the gym, accessed by a set of stairs that creep up the outside of the LEGO diner. Inside, we find a LEGO boxer and female bodybuilder working out. There's a LEGO boxing ring, punchbag and a full set of weights. The bodybuilder has a weight bench with dumbells and other weight lifting gear and when the going gets tough, details include a window-mounted A/C unit and a water cooler.

The third level of Downtown Diner is where 1950s hit records are made. A fully equipped LEGO recording studio includes an acoustically insulated vocal recording booth, mixing desk with tape recording machine and an area for artists and their manager to relax. There's a drinks station, stylish LEGO area rugs and a large red chair for the manager.

Finally, there's a roof terrace accessible from the recording studio which tops out Downtown Diner perfectly. A small decorative wall keeps the LEGO minifigures safe and makes the roof terrace with working skylight the perfect place for budding rock and roll performers to stage an impromptu LEGO city rock concert.

But that is not all! Downtown Diner also comes with a magnificent 1950s style pink LEGO convertible car complete with fins which seats three minifigures very comfortably.

Put simply, Downtown Diner is a magnificent LEGO set and has definitely got me hooked on the LEGO modular building concept (I'm already planning my next modular build). It has some phenomenal LEGO architectural featues and employs some very innovative build techniques, for example to incorporate round windows in the recording studio vocals booth by sandwiching clear transparent LEGO elements between a right side and inverted LEGO arch element. It's a joy to build and I have no regrets with my modular building.

There are too many features on the LEGO Downtown Diner 10260 set to cover here and a picture (or some moving pictures) tells a thousand words, so check out my video review of the 2018 Downtown Diner and be sure to share your reactions in the comments!
