How to Find Out If Your Computer is 32-bit or 64-bit

In today’s tutorial I’m going to show you how to easily find out if your Windows computer has a 32-bit or- 64-bit operating system.

Understanding your computer's architecture helps you determine which software applications and operating systems are compatible with your system. Many modern software programs and operating systems are designed to run specifically on 64-bit systems, taking advantage of the increased memory address space and performance capabilities.

To get started with finding out your system’s architecture:
1. Go into the Windows start bar, and type in “Command Prompt” and click on the “Command Prompt” application to open it up.
2. Now type in the following command “WMIC os get osarchitecture”.'
3. Now hit the enter key on your keyboard.
4. Your Windows operating system architecture will now be displayed. As you can see, my computer is 64-bit.

And it’s as easy as that, finding out whether your computer is a 32-bit or 64-bit build is a simple task to perform.
