How to make natural Castile cold process soap 100% extra virgin Olive oil soap making tutorial

Описание к видео How to make natural Castile cold process soap 100% extra virgin Olive oil soap making tutorial

Today we are making a 10lb batch of all natural Castile soap.

Castile soap is made with just 3 ingredients (with an optional 4th ingredient) and they are Olive Oil, Lye and Water (with Sodium Lactate being optional). Castile soap is incredibly mild, incredibly gentle and is suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin.

Today we begin by talking through our process, including some safety tips and explaining about the ingredients that we have chosen to use.

Castile soap will always be incredibly soft after being made due to the fact it is a 100% olive oil soap with no hard oils included and for this reason it will take longer to be ready to un-mold and it will take longer to cure (we cure ours for 8 months!)

Castile soap can be scented and coloured but we are leaving ours unscented and uncoloured today to really showcase the benefits of the extra virgin olive oil that we are using.

If you wish to try this recipe yourself you can do so using the following ingredients:

(These ingredients are enough for 2lb of soap, which will fill a small loaf mold)

116g Sodium Hydroxide
200g Water
908g Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2tsp Sodium Lactate (optional but we recommend using it if possible)
