The documentary "Sekania: A beach for the sea turtle Caretta caretta" tells the story of Sekania, a small beach in Zakynthos that is less than 550 metres long and has been a symbol of WWF Greece's action for the protection of wildlife in Greece for almost 30 years.

Sekania beach is one of the most important “maternity wards” in the Mediterranean — and the beach with the biggest density of nests — for the sea turtle Caretta caretta. By protecting this beach, we are doing more than just protecting an endangered species. We are protecting our natural heritage.

Since 1999, with the establishment of the National Marine Park of Zakynthos, the region has been characterised as an absolutely protected area. It is a success story that, as is always the case in such matters, is the result of long-standing cooperation with many institutions and organisations.
