Fili Filizzola - Works with ages 6 and up.

Fili (pronounced Philly), is an Italian-Brazilian guitarist, composer, producer and guitar teacher. Despite having grown up in Denver, CO, Fili spent most of his life in Brazil where he got a Bachelor’s Degree in Guitar Performance at the University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). During his time at UFMG, Fili received a full scholarship to study for a semester at the renowned “The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music” in New York CIty and was awarded a $20,000 scholarship to study at “Berklee College of Music”. In 2013 Fili won the BDMG Young Instrumentalist Award in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
Guitarists and bands such as John Petrucci, Scott Henderson, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan are what got Fili interested in music and the guitar. After diving head first into the world of music he later discovered many artists and styles of music who have helped shape the musician he is today such as Charlie Parker, Pat Metheny, Pat Martino, Tom Jobim and many Brazilian musicians, Snarky Puppy, Al di Meola, John Scofield, etc.
In Fili’s mind playing music should always be fun! And there’s no better way to learn music than to learn from the masters themselves. And that means learning from the recordings, and teaching the students their favorite songs/solos. Be it on a beginner, intermediate or advanced level, Fili believes in transcribing what the music icons have played and passing the knowledge of how to transcribe on to his students so that they can have fun playing along with their favorite bands/musicians before going on to play with other musicians if they have the desire to do so.
