Follow me today as I recount the events that saw me admitted to emergency in Perth on my first day back in Perth.

Waiting for a local bus to take me to Perth city, I began to feel a pain in my chest which increased in severity until I arrived at the train station and thought it better to walk the few hundred meters to the local hospital.

After a number of blood tests, ECGs, and CT scans I was given y=the all clear with this episode being somewhat of a mystery. With my underlying history of heart problems I wasn’t taking any chances with my health as I’ve experienced stroke and heart complaints in the past.

After recounting my hospital tale we head into the city where I have to get some money out for my next trip, buy a new GoPro, and headphones. We take a walk around the city stopping at point zero where distances from Perth are measured, we tour an army personal carrier that’s parked in the city mall, and discover a blue spaceman artwork piece in a park.

Over the course of the day I offer my thoughts on facing the fear of travel as we age with underlying medical conditions, as well as the potential to worry too much about what might or might not happen as we travel as older people.

I suggest it’s better to live an active life pursuing the the things we want from this existence rather than living with the fear or the worry of what could happen. Seize the day while we can.
