If you want a quicker release snap shot, you need to work at it!

These off-ice hockey drills break down how you can train to develop a LIGHTENING quick release that is unstoppable!

Goalies are going to fear you, defenders are going to respect you and your teammates are going to IDOL you.

By practicing these drills OFF the ice you are going to get hundreds or even THOUSANDS of repetitions in and that is going to set you apart from other players.

Instead of just going through the motions and shooting pucks randomly, you are going to have a specific purpose behind your training.

The MAIN KEYS when you are doing these drills:

1) Get your TOP hand away from your body

2) Get leverage on your stick. Lean in slightly and make sure your inside leg is bent! The lower the inside leg is bent the better.

3) Snap through with your bottom hand as your top hand drives back into your hip.

4) Release the stick HARD and FAST. Think about throwing that out and through the net.

REMEMBER:

If you want to build a quick release it takes PRACTICE. It may feel awkward at first and that's okay.

Don't bring the puck TO far back. Try to push that puck further and further away from your body to force your hands out.

If the puck flutters. That's okay! It's not a perfect process and the training and drills take time!

Master these drills stationary, then try to work on them with your feet moving.

RECOMMENDED SETS & REPS

I recommend going through each drill shooting the pucks at 1 target, then resting and repeating that for all 4 targets.

You can change the up angles so you are straight on, then move to the right, then move to the left.
