This has always been one of my favorite Garth Brooks songs. There’s a quiet honesty in it that hits deeper the older you get — about loss, resilience, and figuring out how to move forward when life doesn’t go the way you planned. I wanted this version to feel intimate and reflective, letting the lyrics and melody carry the emotion without anything getting in the way.

Stripping the song down to just piano and voice brings the story front and center, allowing the emotion to unfold naturally and honestly, one line at a time.

I recorded this performance in one take, mistakes and all, to keep it honest and real.
