Mandy Sellars from Accrington in Lancashire suffers from a condition so rare that despite undergoing many tests, doctors have not yet been able to make a firm diagnosis. Mandy was born with legs which were double the normal size and since birth, they have continued to grow. Doctors do not know why, and are unable to stop it happening, although as part of this documentary, Dr. Semple from Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust does genetic tests which may one day result in a cure. He is also able to prove Mandy’s legs are starving her upper body of fat and that above the waist, she is under weight.
