Malkauns Tarana- By Neha Seshadrinath

A Tarana in Raag Malkauns choreographed by Neha's gurus and internationally acclaimed dancer duo Nirupama and Sri T.D. Rajendra (Abhinava Dance Company, Bangalore). The music has been beautifully composed and sung by Ustad Faiyaz Khan, one of the leading Hindustani vocalists of the country.

Tarana depicts the pure joy of dance and is presented as a nritta piece. Tarana was created by Amir Khusro using soft consonants arranged in a fashion that brought a meaning. These words were created to sound something like a short hand writing & was used as a language to communicate by Fakirs , Sufi & Rumi saints in ancient times. Tarana communicates devotion to God & gratitude to Gurus.
