When the channel tunnel opened it promised to link numerous British cities with even more numerous destrinations in Europe - but today it only provides direct high speed rail connections from London to a handful of destinations including Brussels, Amsterdam and Paris.

In this video I'm going to be looking at the plans to fix that.

I'll look at the issues faced by the current Eurostar service - from its limited destinations, slow security processes and (very) high costs - and the various approaches that are being taken to overcome this.

These will include boosts to capacity at stations like St Pancras International and the recruiting of new Eurostar competitors that will both bring down costs and open up new routes with potential destinations varying from Frankfurt to Bordeaux to Milan.

I'll also ask what could (or should) be done next - especially around opening international rail travel to British cities beyong just London such as Manchester or Birmingham.
