Porcelain Basin is one of two geyser basins at Norris Geyser Basin, with the other one being Back Basin. You can see summertime virtual Yellowstone tours of both of those in our YouTube channel.

The best time to visit Porcelain Basin, or any geyser basin for that matter, is when the temperatures are lower, because the steam coming coming off the thermal features is so much more prominent, as a result of the colder weather. If there's snow around, as there was on this occasion, it is just the cherry on the top!

The early spring and the late fall are the best times to visit Yellowstone, and Porcelain Basin is no exception. Unlike during the summer months, I had the whole basin to myself, for the entire time I was there!
