I can’t think of anything worse than ending up in hell because I lived thinking I’d finally reached the point where God said “I’m done with this guy.”

The true cost of discipleship is one of the clearest lessons Jesus taught.

“So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple” (Luke 14:33).

There’s no coded language here.

By “all that he has”, He means “count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus…” (Philippians 3:8)

Why?

Because “The things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal” (2 Corinthians 4:18).

Jesus Christ is the Son of the Only True Living God.

“No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).

That’s just what it is.
