National Parks are one of the Protected Area Networks declared by the government to conserve natural vegetation and wildlife. National Parks also conserve biodiversity.
National Parks can be declared by Central Government or the state governments under Wildlife Protection Act, 1927.
Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand is the first national park in India.
Hemis National Park in Ladakh is the largest national park in India, where as South Button Island National Park in Andaman and Nicobar Islands is the smallest National Park in India.
