Hi. My name is Hannah Hart, and I'm a senior scientist with Dewberry. Today, we'd like to discuss wetland habitat, the importance of it, and services Dewberry provides associated with habitat impacts. Wetlands play a critical role in our environment. They act as a sieve or a natural filter for harmful toxins prior to consumptive use. Wetlands also provide a host of resources, not only for wildlife, but for human consumption. Wetlands regulate temperature in our natural environment. Wetlands also play a critical role for storm surge protection during hurricane events for coastal communities. Dewberry provides a host of services related to wetland habitat impacts. Wetland habitat impacts are often thought of as adverse or harmful to the environment. However, they can be considered beneficial. For example, a dehydrated system that was historically dry and needing hydration could receive treated storm water runoff to be considered a positive benefit or a positive impact to that system. Dewberry's services include wetland delineation, survey, habitat evaluation, permitting on both the state and federal level, and mitigation design.
