Generally women after delivery they get regular periods. Sometimes they get amenorhea, means they are not getting periods for one year also. If they are breast feeding properly exclusive breastfeeding they don’t get periods. Sometimes if ovarian activity is resumed early patient may get periods after 35 days also, sometimes 3 months, sometimes 6 months. It is individual variation. These are because of the changes of the hormones which our ovary suppressed for so long, for 9 months and so hormonal imbalance is there and it all depends on exclusive breastfeeding also. Anytime you are not having periods you should consult your doctor because you can get pregnant immediately after delivery also. Sometimes ovulation is resumed after 2 or 3 weeks. You should always visits a gynaecologist if you are having irregular periods or no periods. We call it as amenorrhea and it is a very important thing and sometimes patient may be pregnant and we may find patient is pregnant 6 months or 7 months, So you should be very vigilant about the amenorrhea and you should take it seriously and visit your gynecologist so that your gynecologist can perform ultrasound, pregnancy test, beta hCG like that. She can examine you physically also.
